چکیده

We report a tunable magnetoresistance (MR) behavior in suspended graphitic multilayers through point-defect engineering by ion implantation. We find that ion implantation drastically changes the MR behavior: the linear positive MR in pure graphitic multilayers transforms into a negative MR after introducing significant shortrange disorders (implanted boron or carbon atoms), consistent with recent non-Markovian transport theory. Our experiments suggest the important role of the non-Markovian process in the intriguing MR behavior for graphitic systems, and open a new window for understanding transport phenomena beyond the Drude-Boltzmann approach and tailoring the electronic properties of graphitic layers.

Probing phonon emission via hot carrier transport in suspended graphitic multilayers

We study hot carrier transport under magnetic fields up to 15 T in suspended graphitic multilayers through differential conductance (dI/dV ) spectroscopy. Distinct high-energy dI/dV anomalies have been observed and shown to be related to intrinsic phonon-emission processes in graphite. The evolution of such dI/dV anomalies undermagnetic fields is further understood as a consequence of inter-Lan...

Tuning interlayer exchange coupling of co-doped TiO2/VO2 multilayers via metal-insulator transition.

Reversibly switching interlayer exchange coupling (IEC) of magnetic semiconductor multilayers between ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) modes is a difficult but key issue for fabricating semiconductor giant magnetoresistance devices. Here, we show that such tunable IEC is achievable around room temperature in Co-doped TiO2/VO2 diluted magnetic semiconductor multilayers. On the basi...

Atomistic simulations of low energy ion assisted vapor deposition of metal multilayers

The properties of giant magnetoresistance multilayers are a sensitive function of the vapor deposition process used for their synthesis. The highest magnetoresistance occurs when deposition results in interfaces that are flat and chemically separated. Molecular dynamics simulations have been used to explore the potential benefits of low energy xenon ion assistance during the physical vapor depo...

Magnetic Properties and Structural Study of Ni-Co/Cu Multilayers Prepared by Electrodeposition Method

Ni-Co/Cu multilayers have been grown by electrodeposition method from a single electrolyte (based on Ni(SO4).6H2O, Co(SO4).7H2O, Cu(SO4) and H3BO3) using galvanostatic control on titanium sublayers. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns confirmed the multilayered structure with the nanometer thicknesses. Also, electron diffraction x-ray (EDX)  analysis confirmed the purity of deposited samples. ...

Evidence of spin-wave demagnetization in Fe–Cr giant magnetoresistance multilayers

The temperature dependence of the saturation magnetization of Xe ion-beam sputtered Fe–Cr multilayers has been measured between 5 and 300 K in the presence of a field greater than the saturation field sHsatd. With the application of Hsat, the zero-field antiferromagnetically coupled ferromagnetic Fe layers are forced to align ferromagnetically. We find that the thermal demagnetization of such m...
